DuPage Medical Group Provides Medical Services at SheROX Triathlon for Seventh Year!

DuPage Medical Group SheRox TriathlonOn Sunday, June 10th, Dr. Julio Gonzalez and several support staff members from DuPage Medical Group Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine provided medical coverage for the SheRox Naperville Women's Triathlon. This is the seventh year that DMG has sponsored the event with Dr. Gonzalez once again serving as the medical director for the sprint distance triathlon. The event, consisting of a 750-meter swim, a 22k bike ride, and a 5k run, took place throughout suburban Naperville. Over 1,800 women of all ages and experience levels participated in this year’s race, which took place under sun and clear skies. Dr. Gonzalez and his team remained on hand throughout the day to provide any requested or necessary care.

“Training and participating in a triathlon is a great way to stay in shape, and almost anyone can do it with proper medical clearance from their doctor,” said Gonzalez. “There are many different lengths of races, from the sprint distance to the full Ironman. Utilizing a combination of three different activities lessens the chance of overuse injuries and cuts down on the monotony of doing the same thing over and over again.”

Gonzalez and his support staff emphasize that signing up for a race, such as SheROX, sets a goal and can serve as motivation to keep training. The physicians at DMG Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine are dedicated to supporting an active lifestyle and have vast experience treating all levels of triathletes, from the novice to the elite.
